Stop the Spill/ Portland’s Resilient Together Festival

Re:Solve NW Foundation is currently working on two different projects that aim to educate Oregon communities about the projected 9.0 Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake and the 600+ fuel tanks that are actively in use along the Willamette river.

The first project is an awareness campaign that consists of an in-person event in N. Portland that would bring together the N.Portland community with public officials who have been working in response to the 2022 report about the earthquake's effects on the CEI Hub. The campaign also includes a video package with a three minute animated film detailing the findings of the report, along with interviews from government officials on the work that's being done on the issue. These will be available for download online and will be sent along with a resource list to all of Portland's 94 Neighborhood Associations. Currently, the animated film is being researched, written, and storyboarded. This project is already partially funded by a generous gift from RACC (Regional Arts & Culture Council) but needs further funding, sponsorships, and community involvement to complete and distribute. The event and video package are currently seeking grant funding from Metro's Central Enhancement Grant.

The second project, Portland’s Resilient Together Festival, is scheduled to take place June 1st, 2024. Set in Cathedral Park, it will bring together multiple ways for Portlanders to learn more about the Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake and the CEI Hub, while building community and enjoying great local music and food. Participants can learn about preparedness techniques in the PCC ready-bag demonstration zone, play an earthquake preparedness video game created by Lewis and Clark, learn about resources to move away from fossil fuels in the Go Electric! Area, hear from knowledgeable speakers, and meet their local Neighborhood Emergency Team leaders, all for free.

The Resilient Together Festival is currently seeking funding through Metro’s Community Placemaking Grant and is accepting additional sponsors and collaborations.
